~AbOuT lAsT nIGhT ~

A funny thing happened to me last night.  The Board of Education in my district approved my appointment as PRINCIPAL for the 2016-2017 school year!  So I thought... what a great 1st blog post!  Yes, I have been working toward this goal for quite some time but it's still pretty unreal to me!

I'm really going to need to get some control over my emotions though... A person in a leadership position should not cry as much as I do! Does anyone out there have this problem?  Please someone say yes!

I'm standing there in closed session listening to my mentor, and current principal say all these nice things about my leadership skills and personality and I start welling up with tears! Can you say CRYBABY?!?  It was at this point I started to pinch my finger behind my back to take my mind off the fact that I was losing it!  Ya, that did NOT work!  As my principal begins wrapping up her little spiel about me,  my superintendent says... "Bazz, is there anything you'd like to say?"  I am only able to squeak out a "Thank you so much!" Before that pesky lump forms in my throat and I am immediately unable to form actual words!  God, what a fool!  Still can't believe I did that!

I was prepared!  I wanted to tell everyone how excited I was about assuming the principal position of Pershing!  I wanted everyone to know that my Pershing Team is second to none and that they are some of the hardest workers I know, that we are going to do great things next year!  I wanted them to know that Pershing is more than where I work, it's my home!  I want nothing but the best for my Pershing kiddos, staff, and families.  But most of all, I want them to know that they can count on me!

Really wishing I could have a do over... But hey, I AM GOING TO BE A PRINCIPAL NEXT YEAR!!!  Thanks for reading and I promise, I'm gonna get better at these!  Until next time...
